God has made the way of salvation beautifully simple. It begins with three letters — and a lifetime of grace following Christ faithfully.
Admit
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
The first step is honest acknowledgment. We have sinned against a holy God and cannot save ourselves. Admitting our need is not defeat; it is the doorway to grace. True admission also leads to repentance — turning from sin and turning toward God.
Believe
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Faith begins by hearing the good news of Jesus Christ: that He is the Son of God, that He died for our sins, and that He rose again. Belief is more than intellectual agreement — it is trust. To believe the gospel is to place the full weight of your eternity on Jesus Christ and His finished work.
Call
"For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
To call on the name of the Lord is to reach out in faith. It is not a ritual or a formula — it is a sincere cry of the heart. Scripture also teaches us to confess Jesus as Lord — openly acknowledging Him, trusting Him, and surrendering our lives to Him.
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9The ABCs are a simple way to remember the heart of salvation: Admit, Believe, and Call on Christ. Scripture also shows what a faithful response to the gospel includes:
Hear the good news of Jesus Christ.
Believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
Repent of sin and turn toward God.
Confess Jesus Christ as Lord.
Be baptized in obedient faith.
Be faithful as you follow Him.
These do not replace the ABCs. They help explain what the ABCs look like when someone truly responds to Jesus.
Salvation is not earned — it is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. If you believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, you can call on Him today with a sincere heart. Prayer is not a magic formula; it is one way to express faith, repentance, surrender, and trust in Christ.
